Technician

Phoenix BioPower is developing the next generation of high efficiency biopower plants. Once commercialized, this technology will be able to replace fossil-based energy on a global scale with plannable, scalable and renewable energy, resulting in vast benefits for the environment, end-users, our energy systems and our societies. We can make a difference!

As our Technician, you will be part of the Test rig team and you will work in our test facility where full-scale conditions are simulated for biomass pre-treatment, gasification and combustion. In addition to operating the rigs, you have the responsibility to update, expand and maintain the laboratory facilities and equipment to meet current and future requirements for testing.

Your key tasks are therefore:

  • Rig operation, including high temperature and pressurized systems,
  • Piping work, both flanged and threaded,
  • Tubing work, tubing bending, compression ring installations,
  • Instrumentation work, e.g., installation of pressure, temperature, and flow indicators,
  • Control and automation work, installation and troubleshooting of control loops,
  • Electrical work, installation and troubleshooting of low voltage circuits,
  • Rig erection, installation, and commissioning,
  • Fuel preparation, biomass drying, grinding, and sieving, and
  • Maintenance and servicing of rigs, including compressors, pumps, heaters, and boilers among other equipment.

Essential Skills and Requirements

To successfully execute these tasks, it is essential that you have:

  • Several years of hands-on experience work on lab or industrial environments,
  • A good understanding of piping systems, instrumentation, electricity, and control systems,
  • Technical or occupational training (like Yrkeshögskola)
  • The ability to work independently with attention to detail and across different tasks,
  • Basic experience in MS Office suite and control systems.
  • A passion for practical work and problem solving, and
  • A willingness and experience from working across multiple organizations and across functions.
  • Swedish driver’s license, class B

Since you will be coordinating work with local suppliers, proficiency in Swedish is required. As English is our company language, it is also essential that you are fluent in English.

Further, we will only consider candidates residing within commuter distance for daily commutes from Stockholm.

Work experience with:

  • Control and Automation
  • Boilers and steam driven processes
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Water piping systems
  • Pressurized combustible gases.
  • Hot temperature systems

Merits

Work experience with:

  • Safety practices
  • Welding
  • Lathes, milling machines, and similar.
  • Hydraulic systems

More Information

You will be based at our office and our test facility at KTH Campus, Stockholm, working in an intensive development effort with the rest of our company. Travel might be required in the future. We have employees working throughout Europe, and utilize online collaboration tools extensively, enabling much work to be done remotely. However, the experimental nature of this position will require that the majority of working time is at our office or labs in Stockholm.
